Celestica unveils SC6110 high-performance controller

Wed, 6th Aug 2025

Celestica has introduced the SC6110, a 2U dual-node, all-flash 32-drive bay storage controller developed for enterprise requirements in data-intensive environments.

The SC6110 platform is designed to accommodate up to 32 E3.S PCIe Gen 5 NVMe dual-port solid-state drives (SSD), aiming to deliver both high performance and efficiency to modern enterprises. According to Celestica, the controller includes features focused on performance, high availability, and scalability, all tailored for mission-critical applications.

System features

The storage controller is built with high availability capacity, supporting redundant architecture, battery backup, and hot-swappable components for streamlined servicing and minimal downtime. AMD's EPYC powers each of the dual nodes within the system with Embedded 9004 Series processors. This configuration is expected to yield both improved performance and energy efficiency.

The SC6110 is being positioned as suitable for a range of workloads, including AI infrastructure, high-performance computing (HPC), as well as core business applications like databases, online transaction processing, and file sharing systems. The company said the new controller builds upon its experience in storage hardware design and manufacturing.

Processor partnership

Yousef Khalilollahi, Corporate Vice President, Embedded Business Group at AMD, said the integration of AMD processors in the solution reflects the increasing demands of data across the industries.

"Organisations are creating and managing vast quantities of data, leveraging immediate data analysis to drive their operational decision-making. Working with Celestica, the SC6110 with built in socket support for the high-performance EPYC Embedded 9004 Series processors, means that the storage controller and the currently shipping SC6100 with U.2 drive support, will have immediate support for demanding enterprise workloads. The leadership performance and efficiency of these processors will allow organizations to deliver high performance-per-watt and reduce energy costs," said Khalilollahi.

Celestica's latest controller, along with its predecessor, is prepared to address demands in enterprise data processing and storage, particularly through its integration of AMD's current processor technology.

Gavin Cato, Head of Portfolio Solutions and Chief Technology Officer, Connectivity and Cloud Solutions at Celestica, emphasised the device's potential for integration into an array of performance-intensive environments, such as high-frequency trading, AI, and databases.

"Our new SC6110 storage controller is a testament to Celestica's unwavering commitment to understanding and meeting the rigorous demands of the enterprise market. With deep expertise in storage design and manufacturing, we've engineered the SC6110 to deliver extreme performance and high availability, effortlessly integrating into existing infrastructures to power the most demanding application workloads. From AI and high-frequency trading to complex databases and HPC, the SC6110 provides the highly reliable storage services our customers need to thrive in today's data-intensive world," said Cato.

Positioning in the storage market

The SC6110 joins an existing portfolio of storage controllers from Celestica. The company describes this addition as part of its continuing strategy to serve the growing need for reliable, efficient storage hardware across enterprise verticals, leveraging NVMe technology and scalable system architecture.

Celestica has indicated that the new controller will be showcased to industry professionals, highlighting its technical features and configurations.
